Avengers: Endgame has finally hit theatres, “Part of the journey is the end” and what an end it was. The Culmination of eleven years and 22 films, Avengers: Endgame has brought Marvel fans around the world together to celebrate this never before seen cinematic triumph. Avengers: Infinity War left fans distraught – with many of their favourite heroes being dusted by Thano’s snap, known only to those lucky souls still living within the MCU as ‘The Decimation’. This left the core Avengers, Ironman, Captain America, Bruce Banner, Black-Widow, Hawkeye and Thor, along with an assortment of other familiar faces to pick up the pieces and find a way to defeat Thanos and hopefully reverse the snap.
Avengers: Endgame is setup to be the biggest box-office success, ever. With presales for the midnight and following week being more than five times that of Avengers: Infinity War, up to 8000 cinemas around the US reporting completely sold out! These outstanding presales have toppled even Star Wars: The Force Awakens which previously held the title for the highest presales since its release in 2015. Disney and Marvel Studios have thus reported that on their opening night alone, Domestic ticket sales have reached around 60 million dollars, again dethroning Star Wars: The Force Awakens which made 57 million dollars on it’s opening night. These outstanding box office numbers have Avengers: Endgame on track to make at least 300 million dollars this opening weekend, matching that throughout the rest of the world!
Numbers aside, Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece. A once in a generation event pulling people from all backgrounds and all places around the globe together to celebrate their favourite characters. Avengers: Endgame is ultimately a love letter from the directors Anthony and joe Russo to the fans, doing my best to adhere to ‘#DontSpoilEndgame’ all I can truly say is that if you have put your time and your love into these characters for the past eleven years, this movie is for you. For every moment you ever laughed at, cried at and cheered at you will be rewarded for. Those leaving the theatres have not left disappointed, every comic book moment you hoped and dreamed for within the MCU you will find in this movie and so, so much more. For those of you who have already watched Avengers: Endgame I would implore you to visit the theatres within the coming weeks again, not only to experience the movie again but to show your support to the hundreds of people who have poured their time into the making of this movie over the past few years.
Avengers: Endgame marks the end of an era, the final chapter in the ‘Infinity Saga’, with several actor contracts fulfilled, the fate of the MCU and its powerful heroes is truly up in the air. Looking forward there are many more brilliant, funny and heart-warming stories to be told, real and honest three dimensional characters to love or hate, or hate to love. Allow yourself three hours and one minute to look back on where these characters have come from, their trials and tribulations and remember you was a small part in all of that. Laugh, cheer and prepare to cry, ‘’Dread it, run from it, destiny still arrives’ – take it from me, destiny has arrived in the best way possible. Just remember, Thanos still demands your silence. #DontSpoilEndgame
